Hygienist appointments

I want to thank you all for your patience while we sort our overbooked hygiene diary.  It is incredibly busy and we are addressing this with our search for another hygienist.   However, we have failed to find the right fit for the practice and clients, so the search continues.

The overbooking is compounded by the fact that for my '0' birthday early n 2026, I am taking the month of April off and walking the Camino De Santiago from Lisbon to Santiago.

The reception team are doing a wonderful job of managing the diaries by moving appointments forward as the diary changes, which it does on a daily basis.  So don't despair if you need to alter an appointment and we are booking you months ahead.  The team will offer you appointments sooner as they become available.

My diary is the busiest so Shilpa, who has now been with us for 18 months, has more readily available appointments and is around in April. Just let the team know when you call/email/text that you are happy with whoever is free and they will book you accordingly.  I've been here since the year dot, thus why my diary is so full.

Birthdays & Anniversaries

We seem to be having a rush of ‘0’ birthdays this year, (Jodie, Rachael and me) so lots of parties to go to.  Jodie's 30th was recently (but a mere baby!) and it was cowboy themed.   She really went all out on the decorations and the place looked fab, as did she.   Keep an eye on Facebook and Instagram for pics.

As well as birthdays we are almost on a 1-year anniversary.  Laura (dentist), has been with the practice since Nov 24 and we are so pleased to have her on board.  She is proving very popular with clients and has really taken the Gentle Dental ethos to heart. I think it helps that Laura's start in dentistry was as a dental nurse as she can see each situation from both sides of the chair, as it were.

One of your main roles as a nurse is to monitor what's happening with the client and make the dentist aware if there is any change in body language/demeanour.  She's had that thought process instilled from the start and it shows in her care with clients.  Rob just had a hygienist wife who nagged it into him!

Also Laura being on board means Rob is not on call 365 days a year which he is loving!

Laura has completed  her Cerificate in Cosmetic & Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry and is just about to continue year 2 to obtain her Postgrad Diploma so she can carry out more complex cases.    And as you can see from her pumpkin carving, she definitely has an artistic ability.

As mentioned in the email, I have put together some information on the myriad of Oral B electric toothbrushes that are on the shelf.  Click here if you want to read up on that and add on to your Christmas list.

Enjoy the Autumn.
